All scraps must be wholly contained inside the 5-gallon compost bucket with the lid on secure. If
additional scraps are collected an Excess Compost Pick Up can be scheduled through the customer portal for $5. Scraps can be placed in a brown paper bag (or bucket/bin customer may have), marked “COMPOST” and placed on top of/next to bucket on next pick up day.
OR customers can drop extra food scraps off to one of our local compost collection sites, free of
charge.
Only compostable materials are to be placed in the compost bucket. Back to Earth Compost Crew reserves the right to terminate an agreement with a customer if they continue to place non-compostable items in the bucket after multiple notices to the customer.
Composters are responsible for the maintenance of their bucket. Back to Earth Compost Crew requests that composters clean their buckets as needed, tightly secure the lid on the bins on pick up day, to avoid rainwater and potential nuisances.
Avoid leaving buckets outside overnight during winter months when freezing temperatures could damage the buckets.
Recommendation is to rinse bucket in between pick ups and to line the bucket with a brown paper bag.
Bucket should be placed at the curb by 8am on the morning of pick up. Pick ups take place between 8am and 5pm. Bucket must be visible from the curb. If pick-up day is also trash day, bucket can be placed further up driveway or walkway- somewhere easily visible and accessible from the curb.
Communication
Customers can sign-up for email and text reminders through the customer portal. Reminders are sent the evening prior to pick up.
During extreme weather conditions, unsafe road conditions, holidays, or other considerations, Back to Earth Compost Crew reserves the right to suspend collection and reschedule. We will do our best to send notice 24-hours prior to pick up day to all affected customers.
All official communication between Back to Earth Compost Crew and its customers will be via email at hello@backtoearthcompost.com, through the customer portal or by phone: 610-470-4680.
