Imagine having a personal chef come into your home to throw an intimate dinner party for a few of your friends or prepare two weeks’ worth of healthy meals for you and your family. Such a thought may seem like a dream but Cook on Call makes it a reality!
Lynn Lampe Lindquist IS the Cook on Call. After spending more than two decades in the restaurant business, at some of the finest dining establishments in the Philadelphia area, Lynn started offering personal chef services in 2008. She was a pastry cook at Le Bec Fin, prior to Georges Perrier’s retirement, when it was one of the most highly acclaimed restaurants in the country. Lynn also was the Pastry Chef at Gimore’s Restaurant and worked at Passarelle and Savona before becoming a personal chef and becoming a member of the United States Personal Chef Association.
Her clients range from young families to people in their 90s. She visits clients’ kitchens on a bi-weekly basis and prepares two weeks’ worth of customized meals. Some of her clients have dietary restrictions, some request heart-healthy meals, and some find cooking to be a challenge. She especially enjoys preparing small dinner parties for six to eight people. And some clients rely on Lynn for annual celebrations. She finds it very rewarding to work with families and often becomes fast friends with them.
Lynn has also been an instructor in the culinary program at Delaware County Community College, training bakers and pastry chefs for almost a decade. She loves meeting the students and getting to know them on a personal level, to the extent that one former student Facetimed her from Japan when he was serving in the Marines!
With her personable and thoughtful approach to cooking for others, it should come as no surprise that Lynn also gardens and raises herbs like rosemary, tarragon, parsley, and thyme, along with tomatoes, kale, and lettuce. Her home-grown ingredients add a special touch to the meals she makes for others.
An animal lover, Lynn dotes on her two dogs: Casey, an 18-year-old deaf and blind long-haired dachshund, and aptly named Jezebelle, a 12-year-old who behaves like a puppy. She also has two chickens and collects their fresh eggs daily, often gifting them to friends.
Although Lynn averages 8-10,000 steps per day working in kitchens, she enjoys walking through her Paoli neighborhood year-round. Her other hobbies include reading magazines, riding her e-bike, and enjoying a themed dinner club with seven friends who dine together six or seven times a year.
Lynn takes all the eggshells and food scraps from clients to Back to Earth Compost Crew’s Malvern Collection Site. Her favorite thing about Back to Earth is saying “Hi” to our Crew Member Jane on the first and third Saturday of every month. In addition to composting, Lynn recycles as much as possible, and uses reusable totes. Her biggest sustainability practice is having her clients use Pyrex dishes for their prepared meals, instead of disposable aluminum containers.
