Four years of existence as a business is no small feat when you think about following your passion and achieving a goal that’s greater than you. I started Back to Earth Compost Crew four years ago. I wanted to do my part for a more sustainable future and to help others make the same positive contributions to our earth, the environment, and within our community.
What started as a personal mission – to keep food out of landfills – has grown into a shared ideal across our region and I’m proud of not only our own sustainability, but also, our collective impact. And the numbers don't lie…
Curbside pick-up in 3 Philadelphia suburb countries in addition to 5 compost collection sites
Approx. 500,000lbs of food scraps collected (over four years) About the amount of 2 railroad locomotives
5 customer give-back days in which our subscribers pick-up finished compost for their gardens
20 + partners that invited us to facilitate compost education programs
1 loyal work "crew" who helps make this vision achievable and countless friends and advocates we’ve met along the way
To say I’m humbled and full of gratitude is an understatement. In fact, when I reflect on four years of service to our community, I mostly feel strength in my resolve to continue carrying this mission forward and expanding it as far and wide as humanly possible so more people increase their sustainable living habits to make for a healthier planet!
Thank you for committing yourself to this mission and subscribe to our pick-up service, who drop-off food scraps and other recyclables at the farmers markets, who request our educational programs to increase their understanding of the importance and simplicity of sustainable habits, and who care as much as we do about taking care of the earth for our children, grandchildren, and generations to come.
